This house is located in a small town known as a hiker’s paradise and home to one of Iceland’s largest puffin colonies. From mid-April to early August, the puffins are easy to reach and can be observed at close range.
There is only one road to and from the town. This scenic route passes Héraðsflói, which is known for its rich birdlife, seals resting on the sandbanks, and spectacular views.

Egilsstaðir is about a 45 to 50 minute drive.

»Location is really nice, right next to the ocean. The weather, with snow, added to the atmosphere. It would've been nice if we could have used the hot tub.«

»We already sent our comments to Viator. Dirty and very old oven, dirty pans, Only two cups for coffee or tea, no wine glasses. No water kettle, we had to cook water for tea in a pan. No view (half underground), no outside fireplace as was mentioned in the description. Hot tub was there, but not available. No small trash bin in the house, the big one is at the back of the house (we used a bucket). No stopper in the sink and no washing up bowl. The size of the appartment is much smaller than mentioned, the description says 50 qm, but we estimate it at less than 35 qm. One evening we saw a big black mouse running through the appartment, so we put 2 micetraps in the house that we found in the shed. Very disappointing.«
