Heiðarkot consists of two units, the main house (75 sqm) and the guest house (16 sqm). In the main house, there are two bedrooms, one of which is open into the living room. The living room has a radio/CD, and the kitchen has a microwave, dishwasher and is otherwise fully equipped for enjoyable cooking. The guesthouse sleeps two people and has a WC.

In the center you find the Akureyri Church, built in 1940, with its stained-glass windows portraying scenes from Icelandic Christian history. The nearby Akureyri Art Museum displays contemporary art from Iceland and abroad. Close to the center are the Botanical Gardens, with specimens from all across Iceland. The Christmas house ("Jólahúsið") is a special place to visit and open all year round.
