Lake Mývatn is only 50 km away. The highlands are also accessible by 4x4 vehicles, for example, volcano Askja with its crater Víti (English: Hell) is worth visiting.
This beautiful house has three bedrooms, all double beds. You will love the fully-equipped kitchen that has a microwave and a dishwasher. Since there is a whole window-side at this part of the house, yo can enjoy the fantastic view over the surroundings. The cosy living room invites you to relax with a glass of wine and even watch a good movie. A TV/DVD and radio/CD are available. Bathroom is equipped with a shower and toilet.

Aðaldalur, in South Þingeyjarsýsla, is lava-field country, much of it grown over with birch and heather. It’s close to the fishing town of Húsavík and makes a good base for day trips around North Iceland and into the northeastern Highlands, including Askja, though you’ll need a vehicle that can handle highland roads.
Lake Mývatn is 50 km from the house, Ásbyrgi 75 km, and Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, about 100 km away. The salmon river Laxá í Aðaldal runs 300 to 400 metres from the house.
Húsavík sits on Skjálfandi Bay and has about 2,400 residents. It’s often called Iceland’s whale watching capital, and whale watching tours depart from the harbour. One of Húsavík’s best-known landmarks is the wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja, built in 1907. The town has a bakery, supermarket, shops, museums, a gas station, and a swimming pool, and the local airport offers domestic flights.
