The area of Öndverðarnes, is located near the summerhouse area of Grímsnes, on the road between Selfoss and Reykholt. There is a golf course at Öndverðarnes and it is a also a great location for discovering South Iceland and the Golden Circle area.
It is only 10 km east from Selfoss, the largest town in South Iceland on the banks of the Ölfusá river. The town is a centre of commerce and small industries with a population of ca 8.000. There are many shops, restaurants, supermarkets and an outdoor geothermal swimming pool for you to relax.
The small village Reykholt started in the first half of the 20th century, when geothermal activity was discovered in the area. There are several greenhouse and horticultural farms in the region, as well as a grocery store, swimming pool, horse-show and greenhouse visit, making it a popular stop along the Golden Circle route.
