Borgarnes is just a few minutes away and offers everything guests may need, including supermarkets, swimming pools, museums, restaurants, and other services. With just under 4,000 inhabitants, it has a relaxed small-town atmosphere.

A short drive from the house, along Route 1, you’ll find Hraunsnef, a lovely geothermal bath. Near Baula gas station, you can also turn towards Varmaland and explore further into Borgarfjörður, where Húsafell is located — a popular summer retreat for Icelanders and the starting point for tours to Langjökull glacier.

Other highlights in the area include the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfalls and Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring. Both are well worth a visit!
