Akranes village is just a 5 minutes drive away, with all services that might be required.
Beautiful drives can be taken into Hvalfjörður fjord, and the farm Bjarteyjarsandur is worth a visit, simply for the animals or to have a nice lunch. You can walk to the beach. At the bottom of the Fjord you find the highest waterfall of Iceland, Glymur, 94 meters high. If you are in good shape, a hike up to its origin is totally worth it. In August, you will find places Hvalfjörður full of blue and black berries. In Akranes we totally recommend Guðlaug, a hot pool right at the beach front, frequently used by sea swimmers. The view from "the pool of the goddess" is breathtaking.
