Birkihlíð is a large holiday house in North Iceland, that can house up to six people.

It is a former farmhouse and has a beautiful view of the surrounding farm fields and stunning mountains. Only a few minutes drive from Waterfall of the Gods, Goðafoss. An excellent choice for those who want to do daily excursions in this area of Iceland.

The house has three bedrooms, all on the same level. The rather large kitchen has a variety of equipment, a microwave and a dishwasher. In the living room, you will find a TV, DVD and a radio/CD-Player. Bathroom: with a bathtub and a shower.

Outside, there is a big yard and older parts of the former farm, not in use anymore. You will have a good idea of how the Icelandic farms look and used to look like. You are allowed to fish in the river. In front of the house, there is a private parking space.

Ljósavatnsskarð is a valley between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, close to Goðafoss. There's a small shop selling souvenirs, local art, crafts and food, and public toilets.

The valley is also the route into Bárðardalur and on to Sprengisandur in the Highlands. A vehicle suitable for highland roads is required.

Akureyri is about 25 km west, at the head of Eyjafjörður. With about 20,000 residents, it's the largest town in North Iceland and the region's centre for commerce and services, with a harbour and an airport handling domestic and international flights. There are supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, swimming pools and museums.
