The Þrasastaðir holiday home by Lake Ljósavatn is an excellent starting point for trips in northern Iceland. This modern wooden house has its own small forest and offers many entertainment options.

The house can accommodate up to six people. One of the three bedrooms is in the attic, which is reached via a steep staircase and has a double bed. There is also a beautiful alpine-style balcony with a view of the mountains. The spacious living room has a fireplace, which creates a cozy atmosphere on cold evenings. The modern kitchen has everything you need for cooking. There is a toilet and a sink in the house and in a separate room, accessible from the terrace, there is a shower.

On the large terrace there are garden furniture and a Weber grill for grilling. Behind the house there is a half-covered hot tub, which offers additional protection in heavy rain or wind. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting in the warm water after a day of adventure.

Ljósavatnsskarð is a valley on the road between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn, close to Goðafoss. There’s a small shop, a souvenir store, a market selling local crafts and food, and public toilets.

The valley is also the route into Bárðardalur and on to Sprengisandur in the Highlands. A vehicle suitable for highland roads is required.

Akureyri is about 25 km to the west, at the end of Eyjafjörður. With around 20,000 residents, it’s the largest town in North Iceland, often called the "Capital of the North", and the region’s centre for commerce and services, with a harbour and a domestic airport. There are supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, swimming pools, and museums.

»We had a wonderful stay at your house with 4 people from Germany. We all enjoyed the lovingly equipped living room. And of course: the Hot Pot was amazing experience; in particular the glass roof made our fun even bigger. The environment (located directly at Ljósavatn) was really beautiful.«

»Sehr großzügiges Haus mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Sehr viele Erinnerungsstücke im Haus, man fühlt sich fast wie in einem Museum. :-) Auch hier der Hotpot überdacht, sehr cool.«
