The vacation house area in Bláskógabyggð is on the Golden Circle route and only a short drive away from Geysir in south-west Iceland. The famous Geysir is one of Iceland's most famous tourist attractions, with Strokkur being the most active hot spring. It can hurl boiling water up 40 meters into the air every 6 - 10 minutes. There is a large visitor center with souvenir shop, restaurants, and a gas station. There are many activities in the area, such as horse riding, a golf course and excellent hiking paths. The mighty Gullfoss waterfall is only 10 km away.
The closest villages are Reykholt and Laugarvatn. Both are ca 20 km away and have a small grocery store, restaurant and gas station.
