Sælukot in West Iceland, close to Hvalfjörður (27 km)
Sælukot cottage is located in the fjord Hvalfjörður area close to Meðalfelllsvatn and a short drive to Þingvellir and Reykjavik. This chalet is also very well situated for both to enjoy the wonders of south and west Iceland. There is a nice walk along the shore to Maríuhöfn. The owner recommends the wine school in the vicinity.
There are two bedrooms in the house. The kitchen has all you need to cook or heat up in the microwave and there is also a dishwasher, and it is open into a small living-dinning room. There you can watch a movie on the flat screen television. In the bathroom; there is a toilet, a sink and a shower.
On the 70 square meters big terrace, there are some garden table and chairs. This can be useful to have if you want to enjoy your BBQ meal outside. You are welcome to park by the house.

Akranes is the closest town with all services that might be required. In Akranes we totally recommend Guðlaug, a hot pool right at the beach front, frequently used by sea swimmers. The view from "the pool of the goddess" is breathtaking.
Beautiful drives can be taken into Hvalfjörður fjord, and the farm Bjarteyjarsandur is worth a visit, simply for the animals or to have a nice lunch. You can walk to the beach. At the bottom of the Fjord you find the highest waterfall of Iceland, Glymur, 94 meters high. If you are in good shape, a hike up to its origin is totally worth it. In August, you will find places Hvalfjörður full of blue and black berries.
