Borgarnes and the wider Borgarfjörður region are an easy choice for a day out, with Reykholt, Deildartunguhver and the Hraunfossar waterfalls among the places worth visiting. Húsafell is also within reach, with hiking, lava caves and views towards the Langjökull glacier.

For a different kind of outing, Hvammsvík Hot Springs in Hvalfjörður is a great option. The natural geothermal pools sit right by the sea. Or visit one of the local swimming pool where the locals like to stop and enjoy them self.

The Golden Circle is also possible as a day trip, with Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss all offering a change of scenery from the quieter surroundings of Skorradalur.

Closer to home, the lake, surrounding forests and walking routes provide plenty of opportunity to get outside without needing to drive anywhere.

Please note: The house is reached via a stairway from the parking area, with many steps leading down to the property. Guests should be comfortable using stairs, including when carrying luggage.
