Stekkjarholt is located in the fjord Hvalfjörður, north of Reykjavik, and is an excellent location for day trips in South and West Iceland. This old romantic house was built in 1906 and has been renovated and well maintained by the owners. It is just a short drive from the towns of Akranes and Borgarnes, with their restaurants, gas stations and swimming pools.
The beautiful two-bedroom house can accommodate a maximum of three people. It has a small open kitchen with excellent equipment, dishwasher and microwave. The adjoining living room has a radio/TV. The bathroom is equipped with toilet/shower.
The small terrace offers a great view over the fjord. Relax and enjoy the view or go for a hike in the area. The house is particularly suitable for hiking enthusiasts, as it is not far from Glymur, the highest waterfall in Iceland. The surrounding area also offers many long and short hiking trails. Parking is next to the house.

Akranes is the closest town with all services that might be required. In Akranes we totally recommend Guðlaug, a hot pool right at the beach front, frequently used by sea swimmers. The view from "the pool of the goddess" is breathtaking.
Beautiful drives can be taken into Hvalfjörður fjord, and the farm Bjarteyjarsandur is worth a visit, simply for the animals or to have a nice lunch. You can walk to the beach. At the bottom of the Fjord you find the highest waterfall of Iceland, Glymur, 94 meters high. If you are in good shape, a hike up to its origin is totally worth it. In August, you will find places Hvalfjörður full of blue and black berries.

»It was a nice, cosy house. Only its was quite warm in the house, also at night. Further there are nice surroundings You are not to far from several outdoor things and shops.«
