Vaglaskógur, the second largest forest in Iceland, is good walking country.

Akureyri and Húsavík are the nearest larger towns. Akureyri is 15 km west, at the head of Eyjafjörður. With about 20,000 residents, it's the largest town in North Iceland and the region's centre for commerce and services, with a harbour and an airport handling domestic and international flights. There are supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, swimming pools and museums.
