Hrafnasteinn is a beautiful house in the summerhouse area of Akureyri, Vaðlaheiði.

The impressive view of Akureyri and the fjord Eyjafjörður adds a reason to stay in this house. The owners put much effort into the lovely decoration; modern Icelandic design items and the furniture was chosen from Icelandic designers as much as possible. An excellent location for excursions in the North, but if you want to have a lazy day in the house with visits to the neighbouring villages, this house will not disappoint you.

Hrafnasteinn, which translates into "Raven Stone", has three bedrooms, all on the same level. The kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher. The living room has a TV, and a WiFi connection, so that you can connect to more channels. The bathroom has a big shower that fits two persons, WC and a washing machine.

From the 70 sqm terrace, you have a magnificent view of Akureyri and the scenic Fjord Eyjafjörður, also from the hot tub. You can enjoy a delicious meal outside on the terrace, cooked on the gas grill. Parking space is next to the house.

Akureyri sits at the head of Eyjafjörður and, with about 20,000 residents, is the largest town in North Iceland. It's often called the Capital of the North and is the region's centre for commerce and services, with a harbour and an airport handling domestic and international flights. There are supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, swimming pools and museums.

Akureyri Church, in the town centre, was built in 1940; its stained-glass windows depict scenes from Icelandic Christian history. The nearby Akureyri Art Museum displays contemporary art from Iceland and abroad, and the Botanical Garden, also close to the centre, features plants from all over Iceland. The Christmas House, Jólahúsið, is open year-round.

Anthony

»The location of the house is fantastic. Nice and quiet with a lovely view of the fjord and the town. The only thing we didn’t think was up to scratch was the fact that it hadn’t been properly cleaned when we arrived. We first had to vacuum the floors, dust the mirror and clean the bathroom. This hadn’t been done properly and apparently hadn’t been checked properly either. Furthermore, the laminate flooring looks terrible. It needs to be replaced. We did, however, receive a small compensation for this inconvenience. Finally, the delivery of the bed linen and towels could also be improved. The instructions for this at the weekend need to be made clearer. We had to figure it out and ask for clarification ourselves. Otherwise, we had a lovely holiday«
