Traditional Log Cabin with Hot Pot and a big Terrace
Rjóðrið in Northeast Iceland, close to Húsavík (16 km)
Rjóðrið is a well kept and inviting cabin, located close to the small town Húsavík and steps away from the salmon river Laxá í Aðaldal. In Húsavík you will find among other things, shops, museums and whale watching companies. This is a good starting point for excursions in northern Iceland.
Despite its size, the house can accommodate up to five people. If you are traveling with children, there is also a baby bed. The living room leads into a well-equipped kitchen, with microwave and dishwasher. There is also a sofa bed and a TV/DVD, radio/CD. In the small bathroom there is a toilet/shower.
The terrace is very nice and has the obligatory hot tub and some garden furniture. You have absolute privacy in this house, surrounded by a birch grove. There is also a gas grill, for a well-deserved dinner at the end of the day. Parking next to the house.

Aðaldalur, in South Þingeyjarsýsla, is lava-field country, much of it covered with birch and heather. It's close to the fishing town of Húsavík and is a good base for day trips around North Iceland and into the northeastern Highlands, including Askja. A vehicle suitable for highland roads is required.
Lake Mývatn is 50 km from the house, Ásbyrgi 75 km and Dettifoss 100 km. The salmon river Laxá í Aðaldal runs 300 to 400 metres away.
Húsavík sits on Skjálfandi Bay and has about 2,300 residents. It's known as the capital of whale watching, with boats departing from the harbour. Its best-known landmark is the wooden church Húsavíkurkirkja, built in 1907. The town has a bakery, supermarkets, shops, museums, gas stations and a swimming pool, and the local airport handles domestic flights.
