Hvalfjörður is situated in the west of Iceland between Mosfellsbær and Akranes. The fjord is only 50 km from Reykjavik and approximately 30 km long and 5 km wide. The area is especially quiet and tranquil and gives a great opportunity to enjoy the unique beauty of the fjord,with its fields, shores, canyons and waterfalls.
Skorradalur is on the way to Borgarfjörður with its many sights such as Hraunfossar waterfall and Deildatunguhver hot spring. In Skoradalur is a big lake called Skorradalsvatn. It is 16 km long, 1 km wide, and up to 60 meters deep. A beautiful area for shorter or longer hikes.
Borgarnes is one of the nearest towns (ca 40 km), with restaurants, bigger supermarkets, cafés and the fascinating museum, the Settlement Center. There is also a lovely swimming pool with a steam bath, an ice bath and hot tubs.

Hansjörg V.»A big house with a nice view over a nearby lake (if you are lucky of good weather conditions :-) ). Otherwise use the wonderful sauna, that belongs to the house. The kitchen is fully equipped. We felt comfortable. We only missed a washing machine and WLAN considering the price.«
